WHO ARE WE?
Our business has grown since its inception. Originally founded by Jack and John Berry, the company was sold to Scope Investment Company, later owned by William John Upjohn, and eventually purchased by Joseph A. Cekola, Senior.
The eldest Joseph Cekola was raised on the north side of Kalamazoo, one of a large family of second-generation Italian Americans, and sooncame to emulate a legacy of the Cekolas that had come before him:that of servant leadership. Support of Kalamazoo and the other communities served by CKL Corporation continues to be commonplace in the company he would pass to his children.Due to mergers, acquisitions and growth, this entity now comprises several businesses that distribute across the State of Michigan and also import internationally. These entites are: Imperial Beverage, Elite Brands, Estate Wine and Spirits, and Leone Imports. We employ over 100 people throughout the state to service 4,500 customers from the corner store and the local bar to hotels and casinos.
